VISION

To serve as the business voice for architectural and licensed interior design firms in Alberta, fostering a positive business environment that benefits our clients and our profession.

MANDATE

We focus our efforts on three core areas:

  • Advocacy: Representing the business interests of consulting architects and licensed interior designers through engagement with government and client groups.

  • Communication: Providing our member firms with information and opportunities to share knowledge.

  • Networking: Organizing events for members and client groups to foster connections and build relationships.

HISTORY

The Consulting Architects of Alberta (CAA) was registered under the Alberta Societies Act on August 19, 2009, by 17 founding member firms. Over the following decade, the CAA established strong relationships with industry partners, including the Consulting Engineers of Alberta and the Edmonton, Calgary, and Alberta Construction Associations, as well as key client groups like Alberta Infrastructure and the cities of Edmonton and Calgary.

In 2020, the CAA revised its membership fee structure to be more affordable for smaller firms and updated its bylaws to include a membership class for individual architects and licensed interior designers. The CAA now counts more than 40 firms and individuals among its membership.

GOVERNANCE

The CAA is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of volunteer members who meet monthly and are elected annually at the CAA’s annual general meeting.

The CAA maintains various committees to support members in their business processes and relationships, including Procurement and Contracts, Fee Guidelines (Scope and Fees), Education & Mentorship, Communications, Governance, and City Liaison Committees.

INVOLVEMENT

We welcome Architects, Licensed Interior Designers, industry professionals, and stakeholders to join us in fostering architectural excellence in Alberta.

Join our advocacy initiatives today. The CAA is always looking for volunteers willing to contribute their time and perspectives. Whether serving as a Director on the board or participating in one of our numerous committees, your involvement is invaluable.
